Overview
The objective of the study was to investigate whether the wake characteristics could be controlled with the rotation of one cylinder while the other remains stationary and how partial rotation impacts the aerodynamic forces.

A rotating cylinder placed in a free stream fluid experiences a lift force perpendicular to the cylinder’s axis and the axial flow. This phenomenon is known as the Magnus effect. Rotation also induces additional momentum into the axial flow, which could be beneficial, when the device is used as an active flow control device.
